| Many people have an innate compulsion to be kind to other living things. You're right, though, these things ARE pests/vermin but only because we label them as such. I guess humans don't co-habitate too well. |

Earlier this year, my 8yr old Son and I got a telescope (Zhumell Z8) and have seen many wonders... things that I never had any idea that one could see so directly for so "cheap" (one can be gotten for about $350 shipped). The ring nebula (Messier object 57) is definitely one of the top 3 things that we've observed so far, and alone is well worth getting into amateur astronomy for.To see something like this "with your own eye" (aside from it reflecting onto a mirror and into a magnifying eyepiece) can put you into touch with parts of your psyche and consciousness that no image could ever touch.If you should feel an urge to look into it, I offer the following brief advice... get the telescope with the biggest aperture (big aroundness, more or less) that you can afford. "Dobsonians" are what I would advise. Orion has some smaller ones (4, 6, 8 in), but are a little high on shipping... if you can make the jump to 8 (considered a super solid starting point), you can get the Zhumell, which comes with extra, very worthwhile accessories for cheaper.Also, check out a couple of good books like Nightwatch and Turn Left At Orion to get started.
I dunno... The poor thing is always being chased by grocery store clerks with scanner guns.

Never forget what happened, who did it or why they did it.Never forget who cheered, either.Above all, never forget those who lost their lives, especially the firefighters, police officers, rescue crews (still dying) and civilians, men, women and children. None of them deserved it.?

The same thing that keeps most other businesses from doing that kind of thing for any amount of time and staying in business. Word of mouth. If a casino develops a reputation for screwing customers over, or having games that don't pay out, nobody goes to that casino anymore.It truly benefits the casino to have games that pay out frequently, and to make the kind of good faith gestures like the one they did for that guy.The casino did a good thing, and that guy had a great day, and a great story.

Hey, hey. I'm from Chicago and there are many people in the Midwest that care about the environment. And there are a lot who care but don't know how to make a difference. Or they're overwhelmed by what it's going to take to make a real positive impact. And, yes, there are some people that just don't care. And there are a lot of people who care but are lazy and don't want to adapt. But that's national. And global. And that's the whole problem. How is your blanketed statement going to motivate them to do something? It's not. But raising prices could help if executed properly. But knock it off with the ignorant comments. It's just rude. And we shouldn't be rude when talking about climate change. We should be looking for better solutions rather than knocking people down. So let's all offer up better solutions. Here's my offer: open communication. Let's talk to people and find out why they continue to contribute to the decline of our planet. That's where you find solutions. Sheesh.
