I've heard this from a lot of WoW players. In the past, RPGs have almost always been true to their name--people play a *role* and as such this might be seen as an extension of their own self in a fictional world or as a fictional character whose story they are creating in the game (which could be male or female). More often it is the former rather than the latter. However, with World of Warcraft, there are a large amount of players who did not come from RPG backgrounds--at least not serious D&D-type RPG gamers like there were in the EverQuest-era MMO community. Some of these WoW gamers are from games like Counter-Strike where it's all about skill, playing the game, winning, etc. It's not about your avatar. It's about you--the player behind the monitor. It's understandable, then, that they have no connection at all with their avatar. They create a non-RPG handle like "Pwnermage" or "Bubbleoseven" because they could care less about fitting into the lore. They also, like the comment parent, don't care as much about how their character looks and make the excuse, "I just would rather stare at a female character's ass!"It's not that I get into roleplaying and talk in the proper fantasy language discourse and all of that. I just prefer something that "feels" like it isn't inhabited by 13 year olds. I like a world that feels believable and looks consistent with the lore. That's why I can't really stand this new generation of role-less RPG gamers. But I understand why they exist. They're just gamers, not role players.

Didn't we already hear this story from TechCrunch about Zynga? Also, there wasn't any real information about the ratio of Zynga's profits from these "free offer" scams VS actual payments via PayPal or phone billings.?
The Wii is also 3 year old tech at this point. So first off big whoop if you out Wii the Wii. Anyone with the motivation and budget could have done so at this point. Second of all just because you make a better console then the Wii doesn't mean your going to sell that much more than the Wii did. Especially now that motion sensing isn't quite so novel anymore. I would say that motion sensing would be a bare minimum thing for the next generation console. If they wanted a real wow factor they would figure out something new that would be an improvement. Maybe some sort of intelligent matchmaking system that finds you compatible people to play with and bans n00bs.
